No, Regina, it's not.
The keto diet seems to be all the rage right now, and, while I'm not a huge fan of resolutions either, the beginning of the calendar year seems to be a good time to hop on board. Day 3 has me all messed up with this keto flu, but I've learned a lot over the last 3 days, like how many carbs are in EVERYTHING. The Lose It app has been very helpful in tracking my percent of fat/ protein/ carb intake, even though it makes me mad when I under/ overestimated my portions!
I think the hardest thing in the beginning of a new restrictive diet is finding meals that you actually enjoy. Like, something you would eat over a donut on purpose. With that in mind, I wanted to give you a delicious choice that I turn to every Whole 30 (and it works great with keto), which is hot dog as the bun.
It's pretty easy... You start off with an all beef hot dog (I like Applegate's), and split in half long ways to fit the toppings. I alternate between grilling and using the cast iron skillet to cook the hot dog. After that, the topping choices are endless! You can go a little more traditional with ketchup, mustard, onions, and pickles- make sure to watch your sugar intake with those condiments though. My personal favorite is to sauté some bell peppers, and add avocado and sriracha. Plus, I like like to put avocado on everything- get that extra fat!
